SUMMARY:April Member Meeting- Setting the (strategy) table for smarter philanthropy in the IE
DESCRIPTION:IEFA’s April 2026 bimonthly member meeting will be Wednesday\, April 8th from 10am-12pm\, with an optional informal lunch to follow. \nThis is a “connecting” meeting\, emphasizing peer learning and relationship building. For this reason\, it will be completely in-person with no Zoom option. \nYou are invited to join your fellow IE Funders Alliance members for a smorgasbord of informal peer-to-peer conversations on how we can collectively build a smarter philanthropic sector for our region. \nIEFA recently completed its strategic sustainability planning process\, which used our member and community input to generate a compelling new identity statement that serves as the “north star” for our Strategic Roadmap:  \nIEFA is a funder strategy table that brings public and private funders together to broker relationships\, generate credible funding intelligence\, and mobilize resources to benefit the Inland Empire. \nHowever\, this strategy table is not in a restaurant — it’s a potluck! We invite you to inform your own philanthropy and breathe life into that shared vision. You can do that by engaging in compelling peer-to-peer conversations on critical topics identified in our planning: \n\nBuilding the Case: What are the promising initiatives in the region and compelling narratives that will build the case for funders outside the IE to invest their philanthropic dollars in our region? Which funders are most promising to engage?\nMind the Gap: Where are the funding gaps IE grantmakers need to address? How can we share insight on vital regional efforts that are stalled due to missing last-mile dollars or a final coordinating element that could benefit from targeted co-funding or curated introductions?\nKnowledge for Action: What would you like to know about your fellow funders’ priorities and practices to inform your own grantmaking? IEFA is planning a member funding survey and we would love your input.\n\nIf any of these questions appeal to you — or if you just want to sit at the table with fellow funders — please join us.  \n…And if that’s not enough\, we have some exciting news to share about the future leadership of the Funders Alliance! Join us to find out! \nPlease RSVP below to save your spot!

SUMMARY:IEFA December Member Meeting — Looking Back\, Looking Ahead
DESCRIPTION:IEFA’s December bimonthly member meeting will be Wednesday\, December 10th from 10am-12pm. \nNonprofits across the Inland Empire are organizing themselves in aligned\, integrated ways to meet the complex challenges facing their communities. We funders must organize ourselves as well if we want to be trustworthy partners. We each hold relationships with the organizations and leaders we fund to do transformative work\, but it can sometimes be hard to see how our own grantmaking efforts contribute to closing systemic gaps that face our region.  \nJoin your Funders Alliance colleagues for our December member meeting in a “Show and Tell” peer conversation in a confidential environment among fellow funders. You will have the chance to: \n\nGain insights into your grantmaking colleagues’ funding in the region\, both within your own programmatic focus areas and in complementary ones.\nShare your own current grantees and/or 2026 grantmaking priorities to raise awareness of your organization’s work and explore co-funding opportunities.\nUplift organizations you might wish you could fund but can’t\, and that you want to invite fellow funders to consider supporting.\n\nThis will be an open\, collegial space to learn from and with your peers\, whether you’re refining your portfolio for the year ahead\, reevaluating strategies\, or looking to discover new partners. Together\, we will gain a better understanding of the funding landscape and strengthen our ecosystem of support for organizations advancing community resilience and wellbeing across the Inland Empire. \nNote: To make this peer conversation as fruitful as possible\, we ask that all attendees:  \n\nBring to this conversation your current and/or planned 2026 portfolio of grantees—or at least be prepared to share your primary grantmaking strategies in the coming year.\nCome with an idea of at least 1-2 organizations you can’t support (or at least can’t fully support) and feel are worthy of funding by your fellow funders.\nBe grantmaking staff of institutions funding in the Inland Empire and adhere to our Guidelines for Engagement.\n\nThis gathering will also be an informal end-of-year celebratory brunch. So bring your grantee list\, your curiosity\, and your appetite — and join your fellow Funders Alliance members for a rich\, practical peer exchange of ideas and connections. \nPlease RSVP below to reserve your spot!

SUMMARY:August Member Meeting: Trauma-aware Grantmaking: Caring for our partners\, caring for ourselves
DESCRIPTION:In a landscape marked by repeated shocks and threats — from immigration raids and anti-LGBTQ+ attacks\, to “DEI” prohibitions and drastic cuts to vital services — the toll on our communities and partner nonprofits is immense. Many grantmakers are from those communities ourselves\, and we have developed deep\, longstanding personal relationships with organizational and community leaders. This challenging environment demands that we take a conscious and compassionate approach to philanthropy\, both with our grantees and toward ourselves. \nJoin your fellow grantmakers for our August member meeting\, a vital peer-to-peer conversation dedicated to exploring trauma-aware grantmaking. We will delve into the distinct yet interconnected experiences of trauma in our sector: both the immediate trauma affecting our community partners on the frontlines\, and the secondhand trauma felt by grantmaking professionals. \nThis session will explore how we can be present with our grantees in their own time of difficulty\, while also addressing the heart-level and embodied impact on us. We will candidly discuss the moral injury that may arise from witnessing hardship while also having to navigate institutional constraints limiting our ability to fully respond to the communities from which many of us come. \nThis confidential peer conversation is an opportunity to resource ourselves and support one another toward meaningful action in our own contexts. Together\, we will ask: How are we holding pain and supporting resilience? What does a trauma-informed site visit or grantee communication look like? And what can we do as individuals and a funder community to create more personal resourcing and support? By sharing our own practical\, strengths-based strategies with one another\, we will explore how we can build a grantmaking practice that is healing and sustainable for everyone. \nPlease RSVP below to reserve your spot! As a “connecting” meeting\, this member meeting will be held completely in person at COPE\, 1505 W Highland Ave Suite 1\, San Bernardino\, CA 92411.

SUMMARY:IE Funders Alliance — 2024 Horizons: Reflecting on Success and Charting Future Impact — Annual Year-End Member Meeting
DESCRIPTION:We invite you to join us in person for IEFA’s Annual Year-End Member Meeting on Wednesday\, December 13th at 10am-12pm! \nThis “connecting” meeting will be hosted at the IE Community Foundation offices in Riverside and prioritize opportunities for you to strengthen relationships with your funder peers and engage in thoughtful discussion. \nAs we look towards the horizon of the coming year\, there are many exciting opportunities for us to continue bolstering our work together in the IE. We are also well aware that a number of concerning uncertainties face us that will impact the region and our institutions’ responses. \nThis final convening of the year will provide a space for honest peer-to-peer conversations with fellow funders regarding the social\, political\, and philanthropic trends we see materializing ahead of us\, and what that means for the Inland Empire\, the region’s grantmaker community\, and IEFA itself. \nYour presence and contributions at his meeting will directly inform our goals for the next year. The meeting will include a preview of IEFA’s 2024 goals\, along with a look-back on our accomplishments and learnings from 2023. \nLunch will be provided during the final portion of the meeting — we sincerely hope you will choose to stay for the food and fellowship. To make it easier for you to do so\, the programmatic portion of this meeting will end slightly earlier than usual. \nRSVP to attend: \n\n\nIf you plan to join us\, be sure to click below to add the event to your calendar.
